funded by the state of new york (and currently seeking to continue their work via renewed grant status), showroom new york's fundamental principles reside in supporting young new york city design talents who produce their goods in the city's historic garment district.

essentially a launch pad for new designers, for doucette duvall.... they are something else:  a forum for which we can more vocally support our pledge to garment district preservation.

dd's vision is to continue manufacturing in nyc as we grow.  there is plenty of talent in new york and we are firmly committed to knowing that talent on a personal level.  and resources are available for those of us interested in finding them.

we are thrilled to be a part of the community that showroom new york provides.  and the we look forward to aligning our brand more visible with the noble cause to save new york's garment district.

doucette duvall gals just can't toss anything.  we finally decided how to rescue our rescues:  hello, accessories!

exhibit a:  brad.

a self-styling scarf with detachable bow detail that will add a lil' something to whatever you're wearing.  and it's loooooong, so ladies, do your thang.  (yes, its namesake is brad goreski from the rachel zoe project.)

exhibit b:  marilyn.

a cumberbund belt interpreted in true dd form.  reversible and fabulous.

each one-of-a-kind garment is made from extra materials from previously cut garments.  we creatively mix prints and texture to bring you a lovely, functional, yours only accessory.

double the mileage.  double d.

its starting to feel like spring!!

(well not really because its still COLLLLLD...)

but things are lookin' a little brighter.  our latest spring collection is en route to stores NOW.  we've been shipping like crazy for the last few weeks. it feels so good to know that almost all of the boxes are out and all of our new colorful dresses and separates will be on racks in no time!  (check out our list of retailers to see where you can find dd in your 'hood).

steph and annebet have also been hard at work designing for fall.  as fashion week is fast approaching, we've all been scrambling to wrap up the last details.  we will be showing our fall collection during market week.  so if your favorite store doesn't carry doucette duvall, pop in and encourage them to contact us for a market appointment.

as if all of this does not keep us busy enough, we are also planning our spring road trips.  in the fall, we made stops in north carolina, boston, cape cod, missi

meredith came across an incredible useful website for those of us interested in sourcing/buying goods made in the united states: www.madeinusa.com

MadeInUSA promotes recycling "the american dollar though patriotic spending."  You can search over 300,000 american manufacturers.  does not matter how big or how small if your company manufactures and produces in the united states, you should register.  you can also register personally as a patriot if you support patriotic spending.  its free!!

we'll have to be sure dd gets a shout out ;)

perhaps a nice resolution for 2010 - even if one simply begins with asking the question:  where and under what conditions was this made?
