Manhattanites Stephanie Doucette and Annebet Duvall have a truly green ethos nestling behind their Fall 09 collection: environmental and social responsibility. using rescued fabrics. shunning extraneous waste, channeling vintage glamour into the modern world. This vision is embodied in the recurring 'Little Green Dress' - 2009's sees untra-feminine, emerald green Bette serving as this chic reminder of Doucette Duvall's message.
From the sexy librarian, Melissa, the structured showstopper, Lucky to the everyday glamour of the Audrey raincoat, Doucette Duvall makes pieces east to wear yet leaves enough room for personal interpretation. "Its about making clothes that woman can't live without and have a love affair with for years and years."
Luxury fabrics, exquisite tailoring and simple yet bold shapes define the dd look. yet they are always fresh. never overwhelmed by their growing success. With Doucette Duvall worn by a legion of celebrities, a highlight was having four of their dresses in the Sex and the City movie. "...a complete surprise by the way!" Although Stephanie admits: "Michelle Obama wearing Amalie would be the dreamiest."

Friend, never foe: the eco-chic fashions of doucette duvall
Thanks to Doucette Duvall, its become fashionably and appreciatively evident that stunning style can be achieved without bruising Mother Earth. The brainchild of designing duo Stephanie Doucette and Annebet Duvall, the dress and coat line features whimsical, fresh and unique looks, all while maintaining a devoted respect to the air we breathe. Combining an assortment of patterns, prints and textures aplenty, each piece is comprised of 70% "rescued" material, shipped in recycled boxes and manufactured in New York City's historic garment district.
"We need to think about where things are made and what resources are used to make them, in addition to what we're wearing," says Doucette, adding that this awareness in thought is long overdue.
To date, their designs have been seen on the likes of Eva Longoria and Liv Tyler, not to mention cameos in the Sex and the City movie; the latter of which came as a complete surprise when the two caught the film on the big screen. Not interested in the mass production of look-a-like garments, they believe instead creating one-of-a-kind pieces that are open to personal interpretation, even if that means creating only a handful. Each line includes a newly designed, seasonal version of a "little green dress;" a portion of all proceeds donated to non-profit Build It Green, who shares the same reuse ideal.
Rare that eco-friendly companies successfully combine flattering fashion with environmentally aware construction, Doucette Duvall feel excited and proud of their niche position. Knowing that the fashion savvy are a tough crown to please, they remain faithful in their direction and stern in their ideals. Plus, they know they've received a wink of approval from the biggest critic of all; a very grateful Mother Earth.

SNAPPED: Model Musings
Page Parkes Management celebrated its 24th anniversary on July 29, with a high-energy party and fashion show at the W Hotel's Ghostbar. The "new faces" runway event, co-hosted by Modern Luxury, showcased the agency's top models to local A-list clients from Neiman Marcus and J.C. Penney to power producers Jan Strimple and Rhonda Sargent Chambers (with every rep taking copious notes).
New York-based designer Annebet Duvall, one of the chiefs at women's wear line Doucette Duvall, outfitted and styled each female model in colorful, printed designs from her spring collection, while guys went quirky cool with colorful shirts and bowties. Duvall, a Texas native whose fashion career took off when she was a teen model with Page Parkes, gushed, "I will always come back to Texas for any reason!"

Best of Style - Q&A: Best Dresser
In 2005, Houston-born former Page Parkes model Annebet Duvall, 29, co-created Doucette Duvall, a green-minded line of girly dresses and jackets made mostly of pre-existing fabric and trim. Now Eva Longoria and Liv Tyler are fans, and her brand-new line of chic bridesmaid dresses, Made to Honor, is available exclusively at Houston's Casa de Novia. Here's her wrap on what's hot now.
Finally, not-ugly bridesmaid dresses! If I could tell you how many Vera Wang polyester bridesmaid dresses I have... its disgusting. Why are you spending $400 on a dress you're never gonna wear again?
Doucette Duvall had three dresses in the "Sex and the City" movie. We had no idea. We were sitting in the movie theater screaming at the top of our lungs.
If you could give one fashion tip... If people don't stop wearing leggings soon, I'll freak out.
Why focus on dresses? I think getting a new dress is a symbol of something exciting that's to come, like a birthday or first date.
Must have for spring? Our Lauren dress. It's little, strapless- so easy and awesome. I've had mine for four months and I wear it, like, everyday.
Your parents have homes in Austin and Galveston. Get back to Texas much? Yes! I'll probably still fly back home when I'm nine months pregnant [she's currently not with child], just so that my kid can be a native, too.

In honor of New York Fashion Week, we're calling out the gals that make fashionistas in their hometown proud. (Even Lucky editor in chief Kim France is a native of our city!)
Annebet Duvall was born in H-town, and three dresses from her line, Doucette Duvall, were in the Sex and the City movie, sealing her fate as a force in the Fashion District. She has scored tons of awards for her "little green dresses" - adorable looks made with reclaimed materials. Brides can check out her darling bridesmaid line, Made to Honor, at Casa de Novia...

Local Flair
We're daydreaming about warmer days when bare legs aren't tantamount to frostbite and our wardrobe can upgrade from longsleeved layers and chunky knits to mini dresses and pencil skirts, sans tights. The objects of our desire? Doucette Duvall's spring collection. Stephanie Doucette, the line's coowner, is a UMass Boston grad and former Paradise bartender who founded the line of dresses and jackets on a wintry NYC Valentine's Day four years ago with then-neighbor Annebet Duvall. The duo's labor of love has made its way to Boston via Betty Riaz, style setter and owner of Stil Distinctive Clothing (Prudential Center, 800 Boylston Street, Boston, 917.859.7845), just in time for pre-spring shopping.
Doucette Duvall's latest collection runs the girly gamut from flirty to downright fierce - think spaghetti-strapped sun dresses with removable contrasting plaid sashes to simple '80's-inspired sheaths. Stil stocks two pieces from the sexier end of the spectrum: the Wrigley dress - a sleeveless, scoopneck, vibrant yellow body-conscious number - and the calf length, hot pink Lauren tube dress with slight rouching at the sweetheart neckline. These dresses are casual enough for day, but rocked with pumps and a sleek clutch, they could easily work the nightlife circuit. You can respect your mother Earth while surrendering to your fashion fetish too, because Doucette Duvall is devoted to being green, with clothes made stateside of mostly "rescued" materials and always shipped in recycled boxes. To Doucette, the excitement of fashion design lies not in massproducing tons of look-a-like dresses, but creating wearable works of art. "If [Annebet and I] freak out about a fabric and there's only 40 yards of it, we don't care," she says. "The 10 girls who get that dress are psyched."
